VOX – Norrlandsoperan
VOX eller En Konstnärligt Vetenskaplig Undersökning och Betraktelse över den Mänskliga Röstens Faktiska och Drömda Yttringar Välkomna till en eftermiddag på OperaLabbet...
Welcome to an afternoon at The Opera Lab…
The work, created together with graduating students from the University College of Opera in Stockholm and NorrlandsOperan, is inspired by the Victorian era and its delight with the reasonable and measurable. This includes the notion that feelings can be measured, weighed and thereby controlled in contrast to opera’s vocal emotional outbursts. Can an operatic voice be scientifically examined is the question.
The nine singers have long been refining their talents at the University College of Opera. In preparation for their graduation performance, they have, together with their instructor, chosen arias, duets and ensemble pieces appropriate for their voices and personalities. With the help of Reich and Szyber, they have placed these pieces into scenes that are united into an artistic whole.
