Music For a Darkened Theatre – Södra Teatern, Stockholm
Södra Teatern, Mosebacke Torg, Stockholm 7/3 - 10/3 kl 19.30
“Music For a Darkened Theatre” is Part 2 in The Melancholy Cycle Trilogy, which started off with “Haunted Dancehall” in 2006. We continue our research into The Melancholia of The Present.
On the stage this time: livemusic by and with the bluespunkband DELTAHEAD: David Tallroth and Benjamin Quigley. Ika Nord, our mime superieuse and the aged disco-queenCecilia Roos, both from ”Haunted Dancehall” continue to amuse and to disturb. And last but not least: two masterly male dancers, Hans Nilsson and Göran Svalberg, recently retired from The Royal Ballet Company.
“Haunted Dancehall” was populated with characters that in one way or another remained in their respective dreams of the past, from which they never could break away, though kept trying again and again.
“Music For a Darkened Theatre” takes place in a Variété of Shadows, wherein the emotional labyrinth the different characters find themselves has become more precarious. Their state of affairs seems even more desperate. They’re all trying to tell their story, but the only thing surfacing behind it all is the need to know where and when they lost their identities in central Europé’s maze of memories.
The third and final part of the Melancholy Cycle – ”Unknown Pleasures” will premiere in Gothenburg in early autumn of 2009
